Merle W. Langley

HAYDEN, Idaho – Merle W. Langley, 72, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014.

Merle, the son of Herbert and Lillian Lininger Langley, was born May 10, 1941, in Sharon, Pa. He was raised in Orangeville.

He started his hot-metal type business in 1960 in Marlboro, N.Y., moved to Idaho in 1989 and sold it in 1998.

He was in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966.

He loved the “mat” business, fly fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Janet; three sons, Chris, Coby and John; four grandchildren, Kallen, Mitchell, Katie and Tanner; two sisters, Carole Langley Diegan and Marlene Rae Petrella; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Merle’s sisters are planning a memorial service in Westview Cemetery on state Route 7 in Vernon, where part of Merle’s cremated remains will be placed in the family columbarium. Family and friends are welcome to join a brief graveside service 11 a.m. April 19. A 1 p.m. luncheon will follow at the Orangeville United Methodist Church, Stateline Road, Orangeville.

This summer, the family is planning a service in honor of Merle to be held at Priest Lake, Idaho. Family and friends will be notified.

Merle suffered from Lewy body dementia. Merle and his family received exceptional care at Hospice House of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835, and have asked that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to this organization or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
