Marion E. Darby

WARREN – Marion Elizabeth Darby, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at her residence.

She was born on July 24, 1922, in Warren, the daughter of the late William T. and Gladys Clark Darby.

Marion was a graduate of Warren Township High School, and was employed by Republic Steel as an executive secretary until her retirement in 1984.

She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Warren, and prior to that, a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess.

She was a member of the Warren Rebekah Lodge 453, and was a past noble grand. She belonged to the Chip-N-Putt Golf League, Seniors Mixed Bowling League and Bridge Club.

She enjoyed playing drums for the Cortland Community Band and 12 years for the Youngstown Community Concert Band.

Marion loved animals, and especially shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Jim Dandy.

Memories of Marion will be carried on by her niece, Dr. Janet (David) Anderson of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; niece, Joann (G. Richard) Harvey of Powell; nephew, Carter Pickup Jr. of Houston; plus many other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy D. Pickup.

Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. April 19 at McFarland and Son Funeral Home in Warren. A memorial service will immediately follow with the Rev. Ty Sabella of Central Christian Church officiating. The Warren Rebekah Lodge 453 service will be conducted prior to the memorial service.

A final committal service has been held in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.

Her family suggests contributions be made in the form of donations to the Animal Welfare League, 545 Brunstetter Road S.W., Warren, OH 44481.
