George A. Carmichael
YAKIMA, Wash. – George Allen Carmichael, 70, of Yakima, Wash., died Friday, April, 4, 2014, following a short illness.
He was born Nov. 15, 1943, in Kinsman, the son of John Standley and Mary Schweiss Carmichael.
George was a graduate of Joseph Badger High School in Kinsman, received his Bachelor of Education degree from Ohio University and received his Master of Education from Washington State University.
George retired from teaching after 38 years, where he was also a coach and athletic director.
George was an avid golfer and loved all sports. He was a generous person, willing to help others, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
George is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Donna; two sons, Jon (Danielle) Carmichael of Ohio and Todd (Barbara) Silverthorn of Selah, Wash.; one daughter, Tiffani (Tom) Hibbs also of Selah, Wash.; his twin sister, Gerry (Kenneth) Stafford of Kinsman; one brother, Charles of Minnesota; five more sisters, Marquerite of Tyley, Texas, Martha Elser of Kinsman, Elizabeth (James) of Vienna, Mable Zak of North Canton and Nancy (Larry) Geneva of Canton; and six grandchildren.
Besides his parents, two brothers, Carl and Frank, and one sister, Elsie, preceded him in death.
A celebration of his life will take place this summer.
Arrangements were handled by Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory in Yakima.
