Elsie F. Racich

LIBERTY – Elsie Francis Dobrovolec Racich, 88, formerly of Girard, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Liberty Health Care.

She was born April 18, 1926, the daughter of Anthony and Francis Masel Dobrovolec.

She was married to Henry James Racich for 64 years before his passing on Sept. 1, 2012.

Elsie suffered a stroke seven years ago and had never fully recovered before being struck with Alzheimer’s disease. She fought the good fight and is now in eternal rest.

Elsie loved traveling with family and friends and was always up for an adventure. She often said that she had a bag packed and ready to go at a moment’s notice. She followed wherever Hank and the band played, and loved spending time with their friends and family. She had a strong will, a quick wit and a ready smile, even to the end.

She leaves behind her daughters, Terry Racich of Vergennes, Vt., Janet Lynn Montoya of San Rafael, Calif., and Kimberly (James) Toth of Liberty; three grandsons, Tony (Holly) Nittoli, Joseph Nittoli and Joshua Hubbard Racich; and one granddaughter, Rachel Toth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Andrew and Alban Dobrovolec; and a sister, Vida Dobrovolec, who lovingly raised her after their mother passed away when Elsie was 12 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 5 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Elsie will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff Ivy Woods Nursing Home and Liberty Health Care for the tender loving care that was given to their mother during this very difficult time. Also they would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for their care and support during this past year.
