Carl L. Dittmer
WARREN – Carl L. Dittmer, 83, of Warren, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Carl was born Nov. 20, 1930, the son of Leo and May Dittmer in Bruin, Pa. He grew up in Butler and attended schools there.
Carl was united in marriage with Virginia Crites.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Carl moved to Ohio in 1954 and was employed by RMI Titanium for 43 years before retiring in 1999. He served six years as vice president and more than 20 years as president of United Steelworkers Local 2155. Carl was also a member of Mahoning / Trumbull AFL-CIO Labor Council for more than four decades.
He served as chairman of Trumbull County Mental Health Board and was elected to its Hall of Fame. Carl also served as chairman of Trumbull County Pretrial Diversion Program.
Carl was also a Little League manager and former Boy Scoutmaster.
He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church of Warren.
In his spare time, Carl loved hunting and fishing.
Memories of Carl will be carried on by his sons, Donald Dittmer of Raleigh, N.C., Randy Carl (Carol) Dittmer of Cadiz; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dixie Buzard of Carne City, Pa.
Preceding Carl in death were his parents; his wife Virginia; and two sons, Michael and James Dittmer.
At Carl’s request, there will be no public calling hours.
The family held a private viewing and service Monday at Borowski Memorial Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the AFL-CIO Trumbull County Community Service.
