Betty A. Sullivan
NILES – Betty Ann Sullivan, 84, passed away Saturday morning, April 5, 2014, at the Manor at Autumn Hills, surrounded by her loving family and following a brief illness.
She was born May 16, 1929 in Detroit, the daughter of Henry L. and Helen S. Lasky.
After graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1947, Betty married her husband, Bill, on June 19, 1948 and together they had three children.
She worked for the A&P Grocery Company, the Paper Back Shack and finally in the office of Dr. S. Yumang.
One of Betty’s greatest joys was being involved in the activities of her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Stephen Church where she served as an Eucharistic minister, Trumbull Memorial Hospital and Hillside Rehabilitation Center. She was also a member of the Niles Catholic Womens Club.
Betty was a longtime fan of the Niles Red Dragons, the Akron Zips, the University of Notre Dame and all Cleveland sports teams.
Betty will be deeply missed by her daughter, Judy Jones and husband, Bill of Cortland; her son, Bill Sullivan and wife Barbara of Niles; and her son, Bob Sullivan and Mary Sullivan of Sylvania. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kelly (Brad) Byanski, Billy (Megan) Sullivan, Erin Sullivan and Katie Sullivan; and one great-grandson, Dane Byanski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill who died April 1, 2008; sister, Doris Music; brother, Thomas Lasky; nephew, Joel; and longtime friend, Mary Blair.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m.Tuesday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
