Charles C. Melius
CORTLAND – Charles C. Melius, ”Chuck” or ”Charlie,” 73, of Cortland, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren.
He was born on March 22, 1940, in Chardon, the son of the late Daniel E. and Anna Hucke Melius.
Mr. Mellius was a longtime faithful member of his church, Cortland Trinity Baptist, where he was a Sunday school aide, an usher, a member of the men’s ministry, and was well-loved by his church family.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and loved repairing things. He also loved talking on the CB; his handle was “Handyman.”
Survivors include his nephews, Howard (Roberta) Melius Jr. of Forest, Va., John Melius of McConnellsville, Steven Melius of Akron and Quinten Melius of Niles; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Other than his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald and Howard Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where Pastor Dan Barker will celebrate Charles’ life.
Family and friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
