Antonette Landolfi

NILES – Antonette “Toni” Landolfi, 85, of Niles, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital with her son and daughter by her side.

Born June 27, 1928, to Louis and Louise Mordente Cervone, Toni was a 1946 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

After years as a homemaker, Toni had the courage to continue her education at Youngstown State University, from where she graduated with a degree in social work. Her working career included time at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren and at Ohio Lamp.

But her passion and employment combined when she began working at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Niles where she was the director of marketing and admissions for more than 30 years before retiring in 2003. Even in her retirement years, Toni continued to serve others as a volunteer at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles, a founder of the Tri-County Association of Nursing Home Social Workers, past president of the Catholic Women’s Guild, past president of the Youngstown Diocesan Women’s Guild, past president of the Catholic Charities Board for the Diocese of Youngstown, past president of the American Committee on Italian Migration, an active member of the local Democratic Party, a member of the local Selective Service Board, and one of the “White House Ladies.”

Toni was honored numerous times for her service, including her outstanding service to the Diocese of Youngstown. She received the Joseph A. Marino Democrat of the Year Award, was recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives for her work at Shepherd of the Valley, and was a recipient of the Carmen DeChristofaro Service Award for her community service to better the lives of the people of Niles.

Toni enjoyed entertaining and hosting gatherings at her home and backyard pool, where she took great pleasure in feeding and serving all who visited

Preceded in death by her husband Gregory A. Landolfi, Toni will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jennie Louise Landolfi of Niles; her son, attorney John Louis (Christina) Landolfi; and her three grandsons, Johnny, Dante and Marco Landolfi of Columbus; her siblings, Pete Cervone of Austintown, and Pat Bonanno and Rose (Dominic) Sarno of Niles; her sisters-in-law, Rose Raschilla of Youngstown and Mary Jane (Jim) Botsko of Gallatin, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved neighbors.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, where the Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles officiated by Father John-Michael Lavelle, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
