Thomas M. Shamrock 1925-2014

WARREN Thomas “Tom” Michael Shamrock, 88, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Liberty Healthcare in Liberty after an extended illness.

Tom was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Calumet, Pa., the son of the late Frank and Mary Kendi Shamrock.

Tom graduated from Warren G. Harding in January 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation navigator.

Throughout his early years, Tom’s passion was baseball. He continued to play in high school, while in the service, and later in the minor leagues for the Cleveland Indians.

Tom attended Youngstown State University and worked professionally as a draftsman for Standard Transformer in Warren. He continued his career as a sales engineer, successfully retiring from Balteau Standard Inc. in 1984.

Tom was actively involved in the community with St. Mary’s Parish of Warren for 66 years and SCOPE in Howland. He enjoyed being outdoors, watching baseball and playing golf.

Tom’s memories will be cherished by his children, son Timothy (Diane) Shamrock of Liberty and daughter Denise Shamrock (David) Burns of Erie, Pa.; six grandchildren; loving companion, Audrey “June” Davis; and brother, Mark Shamrock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline Marhefky Shamrock; son, David Michael Shamrock; three brothers; and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Liberty Healthcare Activities Department, 1355 Churchill Hubbard Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44505, in Tom’s memory.

Cremation and private graveside services will be held per Tom’s request.
