Jeffrey D. Nemet 1963-2014

NEWTON FALLS – Jeffrey David Nemet, 60, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital due to complications after suffering a stroke.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1953, in Warren, the son of Michael and Ruth Conti Nemet.

Jeff was a lifelong resident of Newton Falls, graduating from Newton Falls High School and attending Kent State University.

He retired from General Motors on Oct. 1, 2006, after 35 years of employment. He also owned and operated Nemet Electric in Newton Falls.

Jeff was a strong supporter of the community and was involved as a Newton Township trustee and a member of the fire board. Jeff was a volunteer Newton Falls firefighter for many years and was a member of the UAW 1112.

He loved family, football, golfing, gardening and cooking. He especially enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Memories of Jeff will be carried on by his loving family; his daughter, Anne (Chad) Powell of Howland; sons, David (Jennifer) Nemet of Greenfield, Ind. and Patrick of Newton Falls; sister, Michelle Bailey of Newton Falls; two brothers, Michael (Margo) Nemet and John (Debbie) Nemet, both of Newton Falls; three grandchildren, Gillian and Sophia Powell of Howland, and Rami Mills.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Deborah Stull.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls.

The family prayer blessing will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the James Funeral Home. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Newton Falls.

Cremation will follow and Jeff will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
