Eleanor P. Barrick 1920-2014

NEWTON FALLS – Eleanor P. Barrick, 93, of Newton Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born on Aug. 9, 1920, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of the late William Thompson Swartz and Elizabeth Marie Schultz Swartz.

She graduated from Uniontown High School in 1939 and moved to Newton Falls in 1942. She married the love of her life, Joseph Paul Barrick, on June 8, 1941, and they enjoyed 34 years of marriage together until he passed away Dec. 7, 1975.

Eleanor was a faithful member of the Newton Falls United Methodist Church and the Women’s Circle. She loved traveling, crossword puzzles, golfing, playing bridge and cards, crafts, cooking, working at the church in the women’s circle, and entertaining guests at her home.

She also was a talented artist, and her paintings adorned the walls of her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joseph.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Bonniwell of The Woodlands, Texas; one sister, Mildred Osborne of Uniontown, Pa.; four grandchildren, Halle Tempest and Paul Tempest of Cleveland, Megan Tempest Mathis of Lafayette, Colo., and Andrew Bonniwell of The Woodlands, Texas. She had two great-grandchildren, Silas Mathis and Archer Mathis of Lafayette, Colo.

Per Eleanor’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Joseph, in Newton Falls Cemetery.
