William C. Sweeney 1923-2014

AUSTINTOWN – William “Bill” C. Sweeney, 90, passed away on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

Bill was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Grassy Meadows, W.Va., the son of William Sr. and Nora Sweeney.

Bill was a World War II Army veteran that served in the 736 Tank Battalion. He then worked as a welder for Wean Industries before retiring in 1982.

Bill will also be remembered for his involvement in Lake Milton Baptist Temple, Pleasant Valley Church and Crossroads Church.

He also was an expert handyman, and a loving husband to his wife, Juanita, for 63 years.

Left to mourn Bill’s passing are his wife, Juanita Sweeney of Austintown; his children, Keith (Kathy) Sweeney of Hot Spring, Va., Tammi (Dennis) Moore of St. Inigoes, Md., and Lisa Crissman of Hubbard; his 12 grandchildren; and his 15 great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, Michael Sweeney, and his sister, Mollie Anderson.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

Calling hours will also be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crossroads Church, 554 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.

Interment will take place at Brunstetter Cemetery.
