Stanley M. Olszewski 1926-2014

WARREN – Stanley M. “Stush” Olszewski, 87, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, in St. Joseph Health Center emergency room.

He was born June 28, 1926, in Warren, the son of Michael and Helen Halinski Olszewski.

Stanley was a 1944 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

He retired from Ohio Lamp Division of GE as a mechanic in 1986 after 40 years.

Stanley was a member of Blessed John Paul II Parish (St. Joseph Church), where he was an adult server and on the church council and Knights of Columbus 620.

He had been a coach for many years for the Warren City Youth Baseball Leagues. Stanley was an avid baseball fan and Notre Dame football fan, and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stanley served in World War II in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater on the USS Ringgold DD-500.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Olszewski; six children, James (Noreen) Olszewski of Murraysville, Pa., Joanne (Jay) Mulligan of Cortland, Janice Olszewski of Cortland, Katherine (Lynn) Claybrook of Brookneal, Va., Michael (Kerrie) Olszewski of Warren and Timothy (Ewa) Olszewski of Kenton; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond (Alta Jean) Olszewski of Warren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Victoria Pytlik.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed John Paul II Parish (St. Joseph Church) with the Rev. Christopher Henyk officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Champion.
