Carl E. Carmichael 1936-2014
KINSMAN – Carl E. Carmichael, 77, died at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1936, in Orangeville, a son of Mary Catherine Schweiss and John Stanley Carmichael.
Carl was a 1954 graduate of Kinsman High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957.
He was an electrician for American Welding of Warren and for Caparo of Sharon, Pa.
On Feb. 20, 1987, he married Donna Kay Tamp. Carl was a trustee for Kinsman Township for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Bronzwood Golf Club, where he enjoyed golfing.
Carl served the Kinsman Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was an avid sports fanatic. He enjoyed coaching Little League and basketball when his children were young.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elsie Carmichael; and a brother, Frank L. Carmichael.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Donna K. Carmichael of Kinsman; two daughters, Carla E. (Hank) Smith of Hartford and Bette J. (Dominic) Gualtieri of Hiram; a son, Dennis A. (Allison) Carmichael of Wheeling, W.Va.; six sisters, Nancy (Lawrence) Genera of Canton, Mabel Zak of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Elizabeth (James) McKitrick of Vienna, Martha Elser of Kinsman, Marguerite Carmichael of Tyler, Texas, and Gerry (Kenny) Stafford of Kinsman; two brothers, George (Donna) Carmichael of Yakima, Wash., and Charles Carmichael of Pickerington; six grandchildren, Mariah, Ryan, Kelli, Christopher, Sarah and Matthew; and a great-granddaughter, Ella.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
