James N. Banks, 1926-2013

WARREN – James N. Banks, 87, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Health Center.

He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Lucas, the son of the late John and Ruth Zediker Banks.

He attended The Ohio State University until he was inducted into the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Jim had worked as a yard engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad in the early 1950s and then as a traffic controller for Sharon Steel until his retirement in 1975.

He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was the head usher for more than 50 years. He liked to raise and show Dalmatians under the name of “Wade Inn Dalmatians” and was a steward for various dog shows.

He has also worked for McFarland and Son Funeral Home for more than 30 years as a funeral associate.

Memories of James will be carried on by his daughter, Marcia Christy of Warren; a son, John Banks of Seneca, S.C.; a grandchild, Jessica (Douglas) Hipple of Howland; a grandchild, Catherine Rodgers of Warren; a grandchild, Brook Banks of Seneca, S.C.; a grandchild, Lindsey (Chris) Hesson of Kirkland; a grandchild, Kimberley (Jason) Tipton of Streetsboro; seven great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha Wade Banks, whom he married Nov. 5, 1955, and passed away May 1, 2004.

Family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at McFarland and Son Funeral Home in Warren. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church with calling hours one hour prior to the service with the Rev. J. Jeffrey Baker officiating.

Military honors will be presented following the service by the American Legion Post #540 Honor Guard. Final committal will be in the church columbarium.
