Josephine Gordon 1919-2013

NEWTON FALLS – Josephine Gordon, 94, of Newton Falls entered into rest on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, in St. Joseph Health Care Center in Warren.

Josephine was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Crescent Heights, Pa., the daughter of Stanley and Victoria Gillis Suzelis.

She obtained her formal education in the Paris Township school system, graduating from Paris High School in 1936. Josephine had been a resident of Newton Falls since 1943.

Josephine was united in marriage to Carl E. Gordon and their family grew to include their three children, Dave, Ray and Jenny.

As a homemaker, Josephine was a loving and caring wife and mother. She greatly enjoyed cooking, baking and cleaning and to relax she enjoyed working on word puzzles.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Newton Falls for nearly 70 years. She volunteered her time to work at bingo for more than 25 years. For many years, Josephine joined the other church members of her parish family to assist at the luncheons held for the bereaved and at the church bake sales.

Memories of Josephine will be carried on by her caring daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Paul Clark of Champion; her sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Gail Gordon of Fruithurst, Alabama and Ray and Pat Gordon of Austintown; her grandchildren, Michelle Gordon, Brian (Tiffany) Gordon, Scott Clark, Amy Kandel, Raymond (Fran) Gordon, Mark Gordon, Kelly Gordon and Jason (Rachel) Leancu; her great-grandchildren, Micaiah, Xander and Lilli Gordon, Alyssa, Justin and Garrett Clark, Alexandrea Kandel, Fay Gordon, Buck Gordon, Justin Leancu and Willow Knowles; her great-great-grandchildren, Leah Clark and Giannah Clark and her brother, Walter Suzelis.

Preceding Josephine were her husband, Carl on Feb. 21, 1994; her sisters, Victoria Musivich, Ann Lutz and Mary Mailach; and her brother, John Suzelis.

The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, where friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

A service will follow with the Rev. David Merzweiler officiating.

Josephine will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris Township.
