Elsie B. Janek 1914-2013

SALEM – Elsie Bertha Karasek Janek, 99, formerly of Cleveland and Middleburgh Heights, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the Sterling House in Salem.

Elsie was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Anton and Stella Kozeny Karasek, and was the beloved wife of the late James Frank Janek.

Elsie was a life member of Sokol-Ceska Sin Karlin, a supporter of the Czech newspaper and the Czech Radio Program. Her personal interests included domestic and international travel, collecting cut crystal and the study of Czech-American history and heritage.

Survivors include a son, James A. (Nancy Reese) Janek of Bonita Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kelli Jerina, Lindsey Jerina, Drew Janek, Aislinn Janek, Derek Janek and Gage Janek; and a sister, Evelyn Petroc.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
