Ruby L. Calloway

WARREN – On Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 10:10 p.m., our Heavenly Father called one of His own, Sister Ruby Lee Winston Calloway, to take her place forever to be with Him.

Ruby, 78, was born March 7, 1935 in Lake Providence, La., the daughter of Henry Winston and Johnnie Bell Henderson.

Ruby graduated from East Carroll Parish Training School in May 1953, salutatorian of her graduating class, and afterward relocated to Warren. She received her secondary education from Trumbull Business College in Warren.

She was baptized and accepted Christ in 1951 and joined Antioch Baptist Church, and after moving to Warren, later joined Second Baptist Church.

Ruby was a dental assistant with Dr. W.J. Williams, DDS, for 30 years prior to her retirement in 1985.

On March 20, 1954, she was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Redonia Calloway.

Her memories will be cherished by two sons, Don A. (Linda) and Ronald M. (Christine), both of Warren; one daughter, Stacey J. Calloway (Travis) of Cleveland; two brothers, Jesse L. (Ruth) Jones of Warren and Fred Jones Jr., both of Warren; six sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Rachel M. Jones, Annie B. Jones, Cassandra A. Jones, all of Lake Providence, La., Beatrice (David) Merriweather of Milwaukee, and Demetra (Leo) Richardson of Warren; three grandsons, Alex L. Engram II of Parma, Chase C. Calloway of Toledo and Omar L. (Jackie) Bolton of Mentor; three granddaughters, Shayla L. (Kevin) Washington of West Carrollton, Ciara C. Calloway of Cleveland and LaCenya N. (Christopher) Terrell of Oak Park, Mich.; three great-grandchildren, Jesus, Mecca and Olivia; and one godson, Michael N. (Stacey) Jones of Bainbridge. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sister Calloway was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Redonia Calloway; two brothers, James A. Jones and Ronnie E. Jones; two sisters, Thelma Anthony and Josephine Jones; and a grandson, Cameron Christopher Calloway.

A service of Christian burial will be at noon Saturday at Second Baptist Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. The family will also receive friends at the home of her son, Ronald, at 2855 Beal St. N.W.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Services of comfort were entrusted to Sibley-Murray Funeral Home.
