Robert C. Gump 1924-2013
COLUMBUS – Robert Clark Gump, 89, of Columbus, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.
He was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Columbus.
A proud veteran of World War II, Bob served from 1943 to 1946 in the U.S. Coast Guard as a pharmacist mate. He was past grand master of Capital City Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church.
An Eagle Scout, he was a great supporter of Boy Scouts, serving Troop 151 for many years as an adult leader and took great pride in the fact that all of his sons and grandsons also were Eagle Scouts.
He was an avid traveler, reader, woodworker, history buff and one of the original foodies. He had an amazing ability to always appreciate what a grand world we live in and to put his trust in God, while working hard for any goal he would set for himself. His life’s work revolved around the family business of Ohio Labs Inc., Smiling Scot products.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, the former Patricia Williams; his children, Robert (Marilyn), Bruce (Mary) and Bonnie McNeill (Scott); his grandchildren, Karen Acree, Abby Gump, Matt McNeill, Ashley Gleim (Adam), Laura Smith (Andrew), Ben Gump, Sarah Gump and Bethany Gump; and his nieces and nephews.
His parents, Harry S. and Gladys M. Gump, and his siblings, Lou, Harry S. Jr. and Don, preceded him in death.

Visitation and memorial services were held at Weir-Arend Funeral Home. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Masonic Gardens.
