WARREN – Eddie Kubuj, 88, formerly of Mecca, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Community Skilled Healthcare in Warren.
Ed was born Feb. 24, 1925, the son of the late Stanley and Stefania Moscieski Kubuj in Cleveland.
Ed graduated from Greene High School in 1943. After attending Youngstown State University, Ed went on to work as a product engineer at Halsey Taylor in Warren, and he retired from Elkay Manufacturing in Lanark, Ill., in July of 1990.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Mecca Lodge 707.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, VMS 422, and served in Okinawa during World War II.
Ed enjoyed sports, woodworking and being outdoors in nature because it relaxed him and reminded him of his childhood growing up on a farm.
Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Ed is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darleen (Grove) Kubuj; daughters, Elaine (Larry) Franks of Cortland and Marcia Kubuj; grandson, Matthew Franks; brothers-in-law, Charles Coxson and Ronald Roth; sisters-in-law, Violet Childs, Beryl Francis, and Martha Grove; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Marissa Franks; and sisters, Sophia Leeper, Jane Fillmore, Leocadia Milanich, Julia Coxson and Irene Roth.
Calling hours will from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St.
Funeral services will be at the Shafer-Winans funeral Chapel on Tuesday at noon, with calling hours starting at 11 a.m. Pastor Ron McLlvaine will officiate.
Burial will follow at Crownhill Burial Park with Military Honors.
