Daniel R. Valimont 1938-2013
WARREN – Daniel R. “Dan” Valimont, 75, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at his residence after a nine-month illness.
Daniel was born July 25, 1938, in Sykesville, Pa., the son of Morgan and Dorothy Valimont.
Dan is a 1957 graduate of Brookfield High School. He retired from Wean United Manufacturing Co. as a machinist after 29 and a half years. He was a member of St. William Church in Champion.
Dan enjoyed bowling, fishing, vending at flea markets, and his family. Dan served in the U.S. Army during the Bay of Pigs.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Valimont, whom he married March 6, 1962; five children, Daniel S. Valimont of Champion, Judy (Moe) Phelps of Niles, David C. Valimont of Champion, Paula (Lee) Byler of Colebrook and U.S. Army Maj. Joseph Valimont of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Nicole, Stephanie and Trevor; a brother, Thomas “Sid” (Christine) Valimont of Brookfield; and a sister, Gertrude “Trudy” Terchilla of Masury.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Beulah White and Sarilee Yassall.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at St. William Church in Champion.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. William Church in Champion with the Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dan’s name to St. William Church, 5411 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, OH 44483.
