Steve T. Ruman 1933-2013
LIBERTY – Steve T. Ruman, 80, passed away at 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his residence following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Niles, the son of Steve and Anna Palko Ruman.
He was a graduate of St. Stephen School and Niles McKinley High School, class of 1951. He honorably served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1952 to 1954 and was a member of St. Stephen Church.
Steve retired in 1993 after working 35 years as a laborer at Packard Electric Co. Family was first in Steve’s life. He and his family shared many happy times at their cabin in Cook’s Forest, Pa. He enjoyed visiting wineries, working crossword puzzles and his German shepherd, Prince.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sylvia Palko Ruman, whom he married Sept. 6, 1958; two daughters, Rochelle (Wayne) Ensor of McDonald and Lisa Marie Ruman of Westlake; a sister, Mary Ann (James) Casey of Niles; and a brother, Pete Ruman of Niles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frank, William and Walter Ruman.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
