Nancy A. Burns, 1933-2013
RICHMOND – Nancy Ann Burns, 80, formerly of Vienna, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, in Richmond.
Nancy was born July 28, 1933, in Vienna, the daughter of Dwight and Guyla Scott.
Survivors include her husband, Russell E. Burns; two sons, Brian of Richmond and Bruce of Green Valley, Ariz.; seven granddaughters; two sisters, Jorena Kennedy of Vienna and Linda Czako of Westerville; and two brothers, Thomas Scott of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and John Scott of Vienna.
There will be a memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home, where calling hours are one hour prior to the service.

RICHMOND, Va. – Nancy Ann Burns, 80, formerly of Vienna, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Sept. 8, 2013, with her family by her side in Richmond, Va., after a short illness.
She was born July 28, 1933, in Vienna, the daughter of Dwight and Guyla Scott.
Nancy was a 1951 graduate of Vienna High School. After graduation, she worked in the clerical department of the A and P Co.
She later worked at Mathews High School, serving as the dietary supervisor for several years. She served as PTA president and was a Mathews football booster mom.
Nancy was a wonderful cook and baker, known to entertain her friends and family. She enjoyed working with flowers, home decorating and crafts, going on family vacations and visiting the casino to play her favorite slot machines.
An avid sports enthusiast, Nancy enjoyed watching all types of athletics, especially basketball, tennis, golf and football. She was a loving and especially doting grandmother, beloved and cherished by all. Nancy had been a resident of Richmond since 1996.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Russell E. Burns, whom she married April 14, 1956. Also surviving are sons Brian (Carolyn) Burns of Richmond, Va., and Bruce (Bonnie) Burns of Green Valley, Ariz.; and much-loved granddaughters Raven Adams, Emily, Madeline and Catherine Burns, Carly and Lindsey Burns, and Rachel Fyan. She also leaves two sisters, Jorena (Robert) Kennedy of Vienna and Linda (Frank) Czako of Westerville; two brothers, Thomas (Lynn) Scott of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and John (Sandy) Scott of Vienna; brother-in-law Don (Nancy) Wilson of Columbus; and sisters-in-law Patricia Sabo of Brookfield and Betty Burns of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rushell A. Himes, on Feb. 19, 2013; a sister, Mary Lou Wilson; and a brother, Edwin E. Scott.
A memorial service will be held for friends and family at 11 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard with calling hours at 10 a.m. Following, there will be a luncheon for friends and family at United Methodist Church in Vienna.
The family also will be hosting friends in Richmond at Russ and Nancy’s home on Sunday.
