Joseph M. Ciminero 1936-2013
NILES – Joseph M. “Whiz” Ciminero, 77, died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
He was born April 22, 1936, in Niles, the son of Rocco and Caroline Ross Ciminero.
He was a 1955 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, was employed at General Electric and Bostwick Steel Lath in Niles for several years and was a police officer for 38 years at the Niles Police Department, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles and the Niles Fraternal Order of Police and enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley Hubauer Ciminero, whom he married May 5, 1997; two sons, Randy Ciminero and Brian Ciminero, both of Niles; a brother, Michael “Piccolo” Ciminero of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Marie (Anthony) Ross of Girard; and two grandchildren, Christopher Ciminero of Cincinnati and Kelli (Chris) Snowden of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mamie “Chuckie” Currie.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being held at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
