Earnest J. Heatherly, 1934-2013

BRISTOLVILLE – Earnest J. Heatherly, 78, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 26, 2013, after a 3-year battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his friends and family.

Ernie was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Buchannon, W.Va., a place always very dear to his heart.

He was an active member of the NRA and a member of Moose Lodge 186 and loved hunting, fishing, golf and admiring the great outdoors.

A 39-year retiree of Packard Electric, friends and former colleagues would say what a hard worker he was but always with a great sense of humor. His children and grandchildren remember him best as an avid storyteller, Steelers and Pirates fan, a jokester and an all-around wonderful man who was dedicated to the happiness of the people around him.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Millie (Hymes) Heatherly of Bristolville; his children, Judith (Harold) Agler of Warren, Debra (Nino) Cesta of Champion and Joey Heatherly of Braceville; his grandchildren, Kary (Kevin) Martinek, Tiffany (Joshua) BenAmoz, Matthew (Megan) Hinkle, and Ciara and Veni Cesta; and his great-grandchildren, Kristopher Martinek and Noah BenAmoz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dow and Dove Heatherly; sons David Hinkle and Larry Heatherly; a brother, William Heatherly; and sisters Catherine Cobb, June Humphrey and Earnestine Walton.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Williams Catholic Church in Champion, where the Rev. Michael D. Balash will officiate. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will take place in Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristol.
