Karen Meus Thompson, 1942-2013

SARASOTA, Fla. – Karen Meus Thompson, 71, passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013.

She was born May 5, 1942, in Warren, and moved to Sarasota in 1990.

She graduated from Warren G. Harding High in 1960. Always wanting to further her education, she graduated from Eckerd College in 1992 and followed with a Master’s Degree in psychology in 1996 from Vermont College.

Writing was one of Karen’s many talents and passions. Karen spent most of her years being a dedicated wife and mother. Her greatest joy in life was the 55 years she spent with her husband, raising her three children and her four pets. Family was always her top priority.

Karen is survived by her husband, Billy, and her three children, Mickey (Jennifer) Thompson, Amy (Brad) Long and Halle (Guy) Cesta. She was a beloved grandmother known as “Kiki” to Taylor, Corey, Gabriella, Isabella, Guy Anthony, Harrison and Carson. Karen also leaves behind her dearly loved pets China, Jack, Jill and Beebop.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Church of the Palms in Sarasota. Immediately following is a celebration of Karen’s life at The Field Club from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
