Edward A. Grohosky Sr. 1929-2013

SHERTZ, Texas – Edward Anthony “Mr. G” Grohosky Sr., 84, passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. Known to many as Mr. G, friend, loving father, granddad and uncle, he will be missed.

Ed was born March 16, 1929, in Newton Falls, the son of Victorial and Joseph Grohosky.

The retired Lt. Col. and proud military veteran served 21 years with the U.S. Air Force, with several combat tours in Korea and Vietnam.

Ed was loved by family, adored by his nieces and nephews, and admired by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. G was known for supporting the less fortunate, and generous to those in need. He always took time to mentor and guide willing souls. He retired from civil service, his last assignment being 619th Training Support Squadron at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio.

He is survived by his children, Edward Jr., Melisa Wood, Randall and Erica; and his sister, Loretta Ciferno.

Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Victorial; father, Joseph; and sisters, Cecelia “Bette,” Theresa and Edna.

Edward Anthony Grohosky Sr. was honorably laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio next to his loving sister, Bette.

Arrangements were handled by M.E. Rodriguez in San Antonio.
