Yvonne M. Beckwith 1925-2013
NILES – Yvonne M. Beckwith, 88, formerly of Northbury Colony and Westwood Mobile Park, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Beckwith was born April 3, 1925, in Woodworth (North Lima), a daughter of Lawrence and Harriet McCullough Brenneman.
A graduate of Boardman High School in the class of 1943, she retired from Ohio Edison Niles and Warren locations in 1987 as a draftsman following 25 years of service.
A member of the Niles First United Methodist Church, she was an accomplished piano player and played bells and sang in the church choir. She was the first female member of the Niles Kiwanis Club, joining nearly 35 years ago as she played the piano for the service club.
She enjoyed baking and experimenting with cookbook recipes.
An unforgettable conversationalist, she truly treasured her family and the time they spent together.
Yvonne is survived by her family: her daughter, Linda (Shorty) Jones of Niles; her sons, Larry (Eileen) Rupert of Fredericksburg, Va., and Scott (Cheryl) Rupert of Champion; her nephew, whom she thought of as a brother, Butch (Nancy) Thompson of Fort Wayne, Ind.; her grandchildren, Jami (Rob) Gilronan, Heather (Jason) Rupert, Ariana (John) Gillette, Jeremy (Amy) Jones, Shannon and Megan Rupert, and Stefanie and David Hofmeister; nine great-grandchildren; and all of her nieces and nephews, with whom she had a close and loving relationship.
She was preceded in death on Sept. 13, 1994, by her husband, the Rev. Arnold E. Beckwith, whom she married April 15, 1978. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Clevenger and Gayle Miller; three brothers, Arwood, Roland and James Brenneman; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Rupert; and two infant granddaughters, Robin and Jennifer Rupert.
Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Nathan Howe officiating at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, where friends may call for one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Park.
