Marie C. Brooks 1932-2013

NILES – Marie Clara Brooks, 80, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Gracewoods Village in Niles.

Born on Aug. 9, 1932, in Berlin, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Patrick Dragon and the late Irene Labrecque Dragon.

Marie Clara was employed as a nurse’s aide and was an active member of the Salvation Army. She enjoyed serving as a foster grandparent and mentoring students in reading at Rootstown Elementary School. Clara was known for her love and kindness to everyone.

She was devoted to her family and was always there to lend a helping hand. Clara enjoyed caring for her birds and playing bingo. She loved sending cards to family members and friends. She was always volunteering at the Salvation Army, visiting nursing homes with the League of Mercy, serving at Christmas time and participating in senior programs, camping, other activities and trips. Above all Clara loved the Lord; she will always be remembered by her family for her generosity and numerous acts of loving kindness.

Clara will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who sincerely believe that she has been given the gift of Heaven and now rests in the arms of God.

Surviving are three sons, Bill (Sandie) Brooks of Palmdale, Calif., Clyde Patrick (Robin) Brooks of Prescott, Ariz., and J.D. Brooks of Weirton, W.Va.; two daughters, Ann Marie (David) Dye of Bartles-ville, Okla., and Mary Ann (Glen) Life of Rootstown; sisters, Patricia Jordhal of Roanoke, Va., Yvonne Walker of Virginia, and a brother, Norman Dragon of Arizona; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of which she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Clarence William Brooks; son, James Dean Brooks; twin sister, Marie Claire; brother, Richard; along with a grandson Joshua Franklin Graham.

Services celebrating Clara’s beautiful life will held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Capt. Charles and Misty Coffelt will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time.

Interment will be in the Pineview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 270 Franklin St. S.E., Warren, OH. 44483, in her memory.
