Joseph J. Sinkovich 1920-2013
YOUNGSTOWN – Joseph John Sinkovich, 93, passed away peacefully Friday evening, May 10, 2013, at the Assumption Village in North Lima.
Joseph was born March 15, 1920, the son of Marko and Katherine Petretic Sinkovich.
He retired as a yardmaster on the P&LE railroad, and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
He served in the U.S. Army as staff sergeant during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Ribbon.
Survivors include his children, Catherine Frlan, Veronica Guerrieri, JoAnn Crook and Joseph Sinkovich; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Anne Sinkovich.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jennie DiPasqua; five sisters; and three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Rossi and Santucci Funeral Home, Boardman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
