Ethel M. Lyons Fitsimmons

NILES – Ethel M. Lyons Fitzsimmons, 89, of Niles, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, at her home.

She was born April 2, 1924, in Idamar, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Arzula Butterbaugh Everett.

Ethel worked as a motorwinder with Peerless Electric Division of H.K. Porter Company for 35 1/2 years.

Mrs. Fitzsimmons was a member of Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ), and she was a Past Worthy Matron Morning Light Chapter 80, Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed making porcelain dolls and crocheting.

Ethel will be remembered and cherished by her husband of 49 years, Robert Fitzsimmons of Niles; a son, the Rev. John (M. Rhoda) Lyons of Volant, Pa.; a daughter, Diana (Russ) Lyons Olson of Bartow, Fla.; two grandsons, Mark W. Lyons and Jack Shetler Jr.; three granddaughters, Brenda (Brian) Shetler Hill, Karen Sue (Chuck) Lyons Dean and Angela Lyons McCue; four great-grandsons, Kenny Dean, John Dean, Boone Lyons and Tackitt Lyons; four great-granddaughters, Jaclyn Hill, Taylor Hill, Jensen McCue and Fallon Lyons; a brother, Earl Everett of Warren; two stepsons, Robert D. (Cheryl) Fitzsimmons and Rick A. (Nancy) Fitzsimmons; one stepdaughter, Shelly (Sheldon) Nothacker; eight stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John D. Lyons; brothers, Fred, James, Robert and Harry Paul Everett; sisters, Hazel Everett Bellish and Goldie Everett Verolini; grandsons, John L. Lyons and Brandon W. Beahr; and stepgrandson, Caleb Green.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where the Rev. Ty Sabella and the Rev. Ed Hillard will officiate. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ethel will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
