Elton Kuszmaul 1932-2013
WARREN – Elton Kuszmaul, 80, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Community Skilled Health Care Centre.
He was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Southington, the son of the late John Ross and Calla McElroy Kuszmaul.
He married Maria L. Chaves on Nov. 2, 1985.
He was a self-employed building contractor and land developer who started Kuszmaul Builders in 1959.
Elton was a member of Tod Avenue United Methodist Church; the Home Builders Association of the Mahoning Valley, where he was on the board and served as president in 1979; and he was an Ohio Home Builders Association Life Trustee. Elton was elected into the Home Builders Hall of Fame in 2010. Elton was a member of Kiwanis International of Champion for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and was also a member of Monday Nite B Classic bowling league at Rainbow Lanes. He excelled in basketball and track when he attended Chalker High School. He was also a Buckeye Boys State Delegate.
Loving memories will be carried on by his wife, Maria L. Kuszmaul of Warren; three sons, Ronald (Phyllis) Kuszmaul of Delaware, Ohio, Robert (Patricia) Kuszmaul of Warren, and Paul (Kristine) Kuszmaul of Champion; stepdaughter, Andrea (Richard) Mathews of Cortland; grandchildren, Wendy Greasamar, Randy, Daniel, Kurtis, Bryce, Cole and Gage Kuszmaul; stepgrandchildren, Olivia and Madeline Mathews; great-granddaughter, Amelia Greasamar; and brother, Wayne Kuszmaul of Champion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ruth E. Dilts Kuszmaul, whom he married Aug. 18, 1956, and who passed away April 27, 1982; brothers, Glenn, Clarence, Clyde and Arthur Kuszmaul; and sister, Marjorie Williams.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Tod Avenue United Methodist, where the Rev. Dr. James Ellison will officiate. Family and friends are kindly invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Elton will be laid to rest in Champion Township Cemetery, Champion.
