Clyde E. Lutz 1923-2013
RAVENNA – Clyde E. Lutz, 90, of Paris Township, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna.
He was born on Feb. 22, 1923, in Warren, the son of Daniel J. and Hazel M. Kollars Lutz.
Clyde, formerly of Windham, lived in Paris since 1940. While living in Paris, he did some farming, raising cows and crops.
He married the love of his life, Virginia M. Ford, on Nov. 26, 1947, and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage together.
He worked as an inspector at Rockwell International for 22 1/2 years until his retirement in 1975.
Clyde had previously attended the Maplewood Christian Church in Ravenna for many years. Some of Clyde’s passions were woodworking, gardening and mowing his grass, and he was an avid outdoorsman.
Clyde will be dearly missed by his loving family: his wife, Virginia M. Lutz of Paris; two daughters, Barbara (John) Petroski of Paris and Laura (James) Tarter of Marlboro; three sons, Melvin Lutz and his companion, Nora Craig, of Paris, Gary Lutz of North Pole, Ala., and Donald Lutz of Anchorage, Ala.; one brother, Thomas (Beverly) Lutz of Paris; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Donald Gene Lutz; three sisters, Imogene Czoka, Geraldine Zelina and Hazel Ford; and two brothers, Daniel and Robert Lutz.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Martin Riley officiating.
Clyde will be laid to rest at Hawley Cemetery in Paris.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be made to either the Disabled American Veterans – DAV Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati 45250-0301 or the donor’s choice in memory of Clyde E. Lutz.
