Altomira R. DeCapito 1908-2013
NEWTON FALLS – Altomira Rose DeCapito, 104, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Laurie Ann Nursing Home.
Rose was born Nov. 23, 1908, in Bedford, the daughter of Antonio ”Anthony” and Pasqua Marie Ceo.
Rose married her husband, Louis J. DeCapito Sr., on May 7, 1927. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1992.
Rose and Louis moved from Warren to Newton Falls after their retirement in 1969. Rose worked 25 years in the children’s clothing department at Carlisle’s.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church. She lived her retirement life on the family farm, taking care of sheep, cows, chickens and a large family garden. Her hobbies included canning tomatoes and peppers and cooking pizza with her homemade sauce. She was an avid Steelers fan. At 97, she was still pitching baseball to her great grandson Zackary and even ran the bases with him. Rose never missed a baseball or football game Zackary played in. Rose took great joy in caring for her numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her six grandchildren, Joseph P. (Jennifer) Urbania Jr., Cindy (Michael) Harley, Roseanne Cabot and Tomi Westover, all of Newton Falls, Louis Ciferno and Timothy Urbania; a sister, Louise Corsi of Garfield Heights; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, Louis J. DeCapito Jr.; daughters, Cheryl Urbania and Esther Hardenbrook; and eight brothers and sisters.
Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Fr. James P. Walker officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
