Louise W. Hadley 1934-2013

CORTLAND – Louise W. Hadley, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She had endured rheumatoid arthritis for over 25 years.

Born on Aug. 7, 1934, to V. Lee and V. Carleita Martin Warner, Louise is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Mark) Bianchi of Cortland; son, Greg (Maryjane) Hadley of Centerville; daughter, Amy (Dan) Glessner of Munroe Falls; sisters, Inez Shallenberger of Wirtz, Va., and Nancy Finley of Cortland. She loved being Grandma to her seven grandchildren, Shannon and Jason Bianchi, Kristin House, Brandon and Jacob Hadley, Alex and Hayley Glessner; and three great-grandchildren.

A sister, Eleanor Nugent, preceded her in death along with her parents.

Alan G. Hadley, whom she married June 24, 1956, at North Bloomfield Methodist Church, preceded her in death on July 25, 2007. Together they shared 51 years of marriage.

Graduating from North Bloomfield High School in 1952, she was co-valedictorian along with her husband, Alan. Louise attended Baldwin-Wallace College and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1955. She taught elementary school in both Cleveland and Warren for many years.

Louise was very talented and artistic and enjoyed painting and flower arranging. Throughout her life she was active in numerous organizations. She was the founding member of the Four Seasons Garden Club, a member of Cortland United Methodist Church, the Trumbull County Garden Forum, Cortland Literary Club, Bazetta Cortland Historical Society, Buckeye Tole Association and past president of Warren Junior Crafts. She also volunteered at the National Packard Museum and had delivered Mobile Meals.

All services will be held Sunday at Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., Cortland. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at the church with a memorial service following at 3 p.m. Pastor Dave Vencel will celebrate Louise’s life.
