Jackie Haydu 1927-2013

NILES – Jackie Haydu, 85, formerly of Girard, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at The Manor at Autumn Hills.

She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Girard, the daughter of the late Jack and Ethel Vaughn Lavin.

She was a member of the Girard First United Methodist Church, Lydia Circle, was very involved in church functions for many years, and a volunteer for Red Cross for more than 30 years.

Jackie enjoyed gardening, crafts and especially her time with the grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Holly Cooper of Howland; son, Chip (Valerie) Haydu of Orlando, Fla.; her grandchildren, Morgan (Shawn) Bagley, Kasey (Michael) Weymer, Clay Cooper, Sarah Haydu and Schyler Haydu; and her sister-in-law, Peggy (Tom) Boyarko.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest M. Haydu, whom she married June 5, 1954, and who died May 5, 2005; and sister, Betty Pieron.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at the Girard First United Methodist Church. Family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Arrangements were entrusted to Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
