Charles A. Bowen 1930-2013

CORTLAND – Charles “Bud” A. Bowen, 82, passed away Tuesday morning, April 16, 2013, at his home.

The son of Charles E. and Emily Taylor Bowen, Bud was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Warren.

He attend Howland schools and went on to join the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division.

On Sept. 12, 1952, Bud married Lola Brown, with whom he spent 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Bud worked as a tractor driver at Thomas Strip Steel for 44 years before his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed working on equipment and could often be found fixing tractors, lawnmowers, cars and semis.

He was a member of the Masons and the VFW.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Lola, and his son, Douglas Ronele Bowen. He also leaves his granddaughters, Lori (Kris) and Charley; his great-grandson, Soren; his nephew, Don (Ana); as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel, 3966 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna, OH 44473. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m.

Arrangements were handled by Selby-Heavilin Funeral Home.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
