Stephen E. Swatt 1920-2013
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Stephen E. Swatt, 92, formerly of Warren, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2013, in Melbourne.
Born on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1920, in Olean, N.Y., he was the child of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Smith-Swatt.
Stephen honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, achieving the rank “Baker 3rd Class,” and following the service, he spent 30 dedicated years at Chicago Bridge and Iron, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Swatt was a proud member of the Moose Lodge 186, VFW Post 1090 in Warren and the American Legion in Cortland.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Jerry) Swatt-Alfred; grandchildren, Stephen Schaaf, Christine Vanderbur, Christopher Alfred and Victoria Alfred; and five great-grandchildren, Nicole Lavella, Cayman Vanderbur, Malia Alfred, Makenzie and Brennen Wiley.
Mr. Swatt was predeceased by his first wife, Grace Heckman Swatt; second wife, Gladys Kreider Swatt; and his daughter, Cindy Drennen.
