Kenneth N. Brown 1926-2013

CORTLAND – Kenneth N. Brown, 86, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.

He was born May 13, 1926, in Newton Falls, the son of the late Stanley J. and Mildred Ranck Brown.

Ken was a graduate of Mecca High School and received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the Ohio State University. He was employed as a banker with Cortland Savings and Banking Co. for years and was a lifetime farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served during World War II.

He was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church; Farm Bureau and Agriculture Forum; Free and Accepted Masons, Cortland No. 529; Scottish Rite of Youngstown; and Cortland Moose Lodge 1020. He served for 10 years as secretary-treasurer of the Cortland Savings and Banking Co. He was a former member of the Trumbull County Dairy Service Unit, the Soil Conservation District and the State Dairy Testing Committee. He served on the Extension Advisory Committee and 4-H Advisory Committee, was a 4-H Dairy advisor and was volunteer for the Guardian Angels of Ohio.

Memories of Ken will be carried on by his son, Stanley N. (Margaret) Brown of Cortland; a daughter, Sue Ann (William) Reed of Adamsville; a sister, Edna (Lawrence) Flanigan of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandsons, Justin (Ellen) Reed of Adamsville and David (Leslie) Reed of Loris, S.C.; a granddaughter, Marianne Brown of Cortland; and a great-grandson, Cody Reed of Loris, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Ann Studor Brown, whom he married on Sept. 18, 1949, and who passed away June 15, 2011; and a daughter, Janet Ruth Brown.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Living Lord Lutheran Church, where the Rev. Bill Leitch will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Masonic service will be held 4:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be in East Mecca Cemetery.
