Harry F. Kapouralos 1920-2013

CORTLAND – Harry Farrell Kapouralos, 92, of Cortland, passed away Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.

Harry was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Warren, where he lived for almost 90 years. He was the son of the late Christos and Margaret Farrell Kapouralos.

Harry was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Vienna and was retired from the Pittsburgh Public Schools as an administrator.

He was an active member in numerous civic organizations, including the Elks, the Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Trumbull County Historical Society, and most recently served in many volunteer capacities at Lake Vista of Cortland.

His memory will be cherished and mourned by those he leaves behind, including nieces, Cathy Berzin, Mary Helen Chafin, Diana (Neal) Gilliatt, Betty Berzin and Barbara (Peter) Frischman; nephew, Ben (Susan) Berzin; along with five grandnephews; a grandniece; two great-grandnephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John; his sisters, Catherine and Mary; and his nephew, Mark.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Vienna.

Burial will be in SS. Peter’s and Paul’s Cemetery in Warren.
