Gene Snowden 1936-2013
NEWTON FALLS – Gene Snowden, 76, passed into eternal life at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at The Cleveland Clinic of natural causes.
On March 25, 1936, in East Liverpool, James Richard and Vona A. Audmon Snowden gave birth to their son, Gene.
Gene married the love of his life, Shirley Ruth Myers, Feb. 23, 1980, and they enjoyed 33 blessed years of marriage together.
Gene worked as a welder for General Motors for 24 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the U.S. Army and the Pricetown Methodist Church. He loved fishing in Ohio as well as Florida.
Memories of Gene will be carried on by his loving family; his wife, Shirley Ruth Snowden of Newton Falls; his daughter and her partner, Alisia Snowden and Tom Schmidt of Ravenna; a daughter, Renee (Phil) Hurst of South Carolina; a stepdaughter and her partner, Jennifer Beckerstaff and Kevin Barone of Niles; sons, Gene (Linda) Snowden of West Farmington and Frank (Tamara) Snowden of Clarksburgh,W.Va.; stepsons, John (Becky Barnett) Bickerstaff of Warren and David (Tonya) Bickerstaff of Vienna; sisters, Virginia Ann (Jerry) Hardwick of Champion, Julie (Don) Clegg of Lordstown, Kathy (Denny) Calvin of Salem and Barb (Barry) Miller of Warren; brother, David (Pam) Snowden of North Jackson; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his stepparents, three sisters and six brothers.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls. There will also be calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Pricetown United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Gordon Ferguson officiating.
Gene will be laid to rest in Kerr Cemetery, where military services will be held graveside.
