Ethel W. Gill, 1922-2013
LEAVITTSBURG – Ethel Wilson Gill, 90, is enjoying her homecoming with the Lord. At 11:15 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, Ethel passed away at Windsor House in Champion.
She was born May 17, 1922, in Pineville, Ky., the daughter of the late Elijah and Laurabelle Greene Wilson.
She graduated from Youngstown State University and was a retired school teacher with the Leavittsburg school system. Ethel also taught at Red Bird Mission School in Kentucky before her move to Ohio. She was a lifelong member of Leavittsburg Church of God and was a Sunday school teacher. Ethel was a “word” enthusiast who made her own personal dictionary, a “health nut” and dedicated walker. She also enjoyed reading and quilting.
She was a loving mother and is survived by her five children, Betty (John) Kovach of Painesville, Connie (Chuck) Gould of Warren, Daniel Gill of Boardman, Kathy (John) Huncherick of Leavittsburg, and Cleda (Joe) Sanderson of Leavittsburg; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Finley Wilson of Alabama; and a sister, Betty (Paul) Gibson of Pineville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Reynolds Gill, who passed away Sept. 28, 2002; and 11 brothers and sisters.
“Our family will miss Mom dearly, but we are at peace knowing she is whole and happy in heaven. We will love her always and will cherish her memories forever.”
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Leavittsburg Church of God, where Pastor Mark Rasey will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park, Warren.
