Lloyd E. Lamer 1923-2013

WARREN – Lloyd E. Lamer, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Gillette Nursing Home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Cookport, Pa., the son of the late John Gideon and Mary Ellen McAnulty Lamer.

Lloyd served as a sergeant in the Army Amphibian Engineers in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, stationed in the Philippines and Japan.

He and his wife, June, moved to Howland in 1950 from Pennsylvania. He retired in 1986 as a tool room attendant in Department 40 at American Welding and Manufacturing Company in Warren after more than 35 years of service.

Lloyd was a member of McKinley Community Church. He enjoyed western movies and television shows, country music, county fairs (especially the Cookport, Pa., and Trumbull County fairs), tinkering around the house and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, June M. Vasbinder Lamer, whom he married June 6, 1950; one daughter, Brenda L. (Ron) Cunningham of Howland; one son, Barry G. (Amy) Lamer of Cortland; five grandsons, Matthew (Lea) Lamer, Adam (Rachel) Lamer, Ryan Cunningham, Barry (fiancee Kaitlynn) Cunningham and Aaron Lamer; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Gloria; and one sister, Lila.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassandra Cunningham; six brothers and five sisters.

The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Pastor John H. Griffith will officiate.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
