Lavinia E. Flask 1914-2013

WARREN – Lavinia E. Flask, 98, passed way at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Hospice House in Poland with her family by her side.

Lavinia will always be remembered for the way she lived her life with love and surrounding her and she died with that same love as well as courage.

Lavinia was born March 25, 1914, in Roccaraso, Italy, the daughter of Giovanni and Adelina Tobacco and came to the United States in 1919 to Weirton, W.Va., and then moving to Warren in 1922.

Lavinia was a member of St. Mary’s Church.

She enjoyed music, crocheting and raising flowers. She was the most wonderful mother who not only raised her own four children, but also raised her two young brothers and a sister, as well as helped raise a baby cousin who resided with her family after her own mother passed away when Lavinia was a young girl of 16 years old. Lavinia’s family was not only most important in her life, they were her best friends.

Lavinia is survived by her four children, Vincent J. (Alice) Flask of Warren, Elizabeth (Jerry) White of Howland, Stephen S. (Phyllis) Flask of Champion and Lucille “Lucy” Flask of Canfield; seven grandchildren, Mary Beth (Rodney) Hedge, Vincent S., Stephen E. and Thomas (Sydney) Flask, Larry, Bob (Amy) and Dan (Stephanie) White; 14 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Vincent John, Joshua and Geovanni Flask, Samantha Shamrock, Olivia and Holly Hedge, Casey, Alex, Emerson, Cooper, Sawyer, Mazlyn and Rowan White; one great-great-grandchild, Evangline; a sister, Gloria Scarpone of Phoenix; and a special cousin, Elice “Alice” Walush.

Preceding her in death was her parents, husband Stephen L. Flask whom she married Feb. 3, 1940, and passed away April 1, 2006; two brothers, Palmer and Christopher Tobacco; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kaydance Shamrock.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, Warren, with the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Warren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made St. Mary’s Church Kitchen Fund, 232 Seneca St. N.E., Warren, OH 44481, or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.

Lavinia’s family would like to thank Hospice of The Valley and Hospice House for all their care and compassion, and a special thank you to all her friends and neighbors at the Infant of Prague Manor whom she will miss dearly.
