Betty J. Alderman 1935-2013

WARREN – Betty J. Alderman, 77, passed away at 10:18 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Betty was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Bath, the daughter of Clifford and Mae Johnson. She graduated from Stewart High School.

On Nov. 14, 1953, Betty married the love of her life, Eugene “Gene” Alderman. They celebrated 50 wonderful years together before he passed away on April 2, 2004.

Betty and Gene were members of the Moose Lodge, where they enjoyed spending time dancing. They spent summers camping with their children at Ridge Ranch, and traveling in their RV later in life.

She worked as a waitress most of her life, ending her career at the Player’s Brown Derby when she became disabled from a stroke.

She was a member of St. William Church in Champion.

Betty was the sweetest woman; she always had a kind word and was helpful to everyone. She loved her family with her whole heart and everything she did was for them. Through all her health issues, she never complained.

Betty will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Christy (Michael) Graham, Gary Alderman, Duane (Charlene) Alderman, Jill Wyrick and William (Stephanie Rush) Alderman; her siblings, Bill Johnson, Tom (Donna) Johnson, Nancy Harvey and Debbie (Bill) Graham; and her sisters-in-law, Cay Wolfinger, Sue Alderman and Marianne Alderman. Also greatly missing her are her eight grandchildren, Catherine (Bill) Archuleta, Angela (Kerry) Sullivan, Christopher Graham, Lynn Alderman, Melissa (Mitch) Graham Wise, Lindsey Alderman, Emily Wyrick and Margaret (Lance) Graban. Her great joys the last few years of her life have been her five great-grandchildren, Ethan Archuleta, Bailey Sulliven, Kylie Sullivan, Hunter Graban and Leland Graban. She also leaves several loving nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Alderman; her brother, Robert Johnson; and her sister, Peggy Wollyung.

Family and friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. William Church in Champion for visitation. Immediately following, the Rev. John Lody will officiate a Mass celebrating Betty’s life.

Cremation will take place later.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to St. William Church, 5431 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, OH 44483 in Betty’s memory.
