Ruth D. Ward Myers 1920-2013
GIRARD – Ruth D. Ward Myers, 92, formerly of Vienna, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at her daughter’s home.
Ruth was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Massillon, the daughter of Carl and Mary Kurtz Butler, and came to Kinsman in 1929 and then to Vienna in 1934.
She was an assistant to the clerk-treasurer for the former Fowler-Vienna Schools, now known as the Mathews Local School District.
She was a member of Vienna United Methodist Church; Vienna Methodist Woman, where she was a past president; Vienna Senior Citizens, where she was a past president; and belonged to several bowling leagues.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Clarence) Reich of Girard; her son, Kenneth (Maryann) Ward of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren, Lori Maenz, Brian Reich, Tracy Ward, Donald Ward, Stephanie Myers and Vaughn Myers III; and six great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Raymond Ward, whom she married July 21, 1940, died July 23, 1969; and her second husband, Vaughn Myers, whom she married Dec. 19, 1971, died Dec. 14, 1988.
Besides her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Duane Butler and Ralph Butler.
There will be services at 11 a.m. Friday at Vienna United Methodist Church, where there will be calling hours one hour prior to the service. Ruth will be laid to rest in Vienna Township Cemetery.
