Percy T. Carter Davis 1940-2013

SOUTHINGTON – Percy T. Carter Davis, 72, entered into rest at 11:14 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Percy was born Feb. 3, 1940, in Brownsville, Tenn., the daughter of the late Ish and Millie Newbern Sangster, and had resided in the area for 48 years, formerly being of Saginaw, Mich.

She graduated in 1958 from Hubbard High School and was employed with the Packard Electric Corp. as an inspector for 30 years, retiring from her duties in December 1999. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Warren and enjoyed going to the hairdresser every Friday and traveling, along with spending time with her devoted friend Linda Tillery.

On May 18, 1996, Percy was united into marriage with John M. Davis and shared 16 years of marriage together. During the last six years, John devoted every hour of the day providing and caring for Percy, and when her health began to fail there was never a day both went without each other’s love for one another.

Her memories will be remembered and mourned by those she leaves behind, her husband, John M. Davis; son, Leo (Ruby) Carter Jr. of Houston; daughters, Cecelia L. Whitlow of Youngstown, Phyllis (Tim) Ferguson of Chardon, Renea Carter of Bryans Road, Md., Cassandra Davis of Youngstown, Monique Hooks and Natasha (Gary) Price of Warren, Yolanda Hobbs of Cleveland, Donzeigh (Trevor) Williams of Pittsburgh, Callie (Marlon) Evans of Columbus, Wandalyn Davis of Youngstown and Betty Shakir of Saginaw, Mich.; brothers, Ish Sangster Jr. and Ollie Lee Sangster, both of Saginaw; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pamela Carter; brother, Freddy Sangster; two grandsons, Demetrius Hewlin and Alan Reid Jr.; and a great-grandson, Ky’ren Davis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church, 1954 Brier St. S.E., Warren, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Officiating will be the Rev. Avan Odem. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
