Maybelle M. Snodgrass, 1916-2013

KINSMAN – Maybelle Mae Snodgrass, 96, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Windsor House of Champion.

She was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Elyria, the daughter of Win-Ella Maude VanScoyoc and Ralph Ward Manning.

Mrs. Snodgrass was a 1933 graduate of Elyria High School and a graduate of Oberlin Business College.

On Nov. 2, 1946, she married Jack W. Snodgrass.

She was a transcriber for Trumbull Memorial Hospital and then for Dr. Berry of Kinsman until she retired in 1981.

Mrs. Snodgrass was a longtime member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, the Chat & Patch Club, the Kinsman Tourist Club, the former Business and Professional Women’s Association and the Social Arts Club. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years and could always be seen at the blood drives.

Mrs. Snodgrass enjoyed knitting, tatting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, tole painting, macrame and collecting antiques, and she loved her cats.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley F. (Frank) Root of Cortland and Martha J. (Alberto) Sagues of Lutz, Fla.; a son, Dale W. Snodgrass of Kinsman; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years, Jack Snodgrass; a son, Dean W. Snodgrass; and a grandson, Jerry L. Betts.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, with the Rev. Susan H. Francis officiating. A private burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross and the Kinsman Presbyterian Church.
