John L. May 1927-2013
TITUSVILLE, Fla. – John L. May, 86, 1685 Harrison St., formerly of Warren and Greenville, Pa., passed away at 3:14 a.m. Monday, Jan, 7, 2013, at White Cliff Nursing Home in Hempfield Township, Greenville, Pa.
He was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Mineral Ridge, the son of the late Thomas and Jane Irene Craft May.
John was a graduate of Ursuline High School and served in the U.S. Navy. After his military service, he worked for Edward Lake and Sea Systems in Warren as a motor coach operator, where he met O.D. Anderson, which eventually led to his job after he retired. He then worked as a semi-truck driver for All States Trucking Company, which later became Pacific Intermountain Express, where he recorded 2 million safe miles. After his retirement, he was a motor coach operator for Anderson Coach and Travel until 2000, a job he greatly enjoyed.
He was a lifetime member of the Greenville Moose and the Greenville VFW. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and really enjoyed traveling.
John is survived by his companion of 31 years and her family, Mary Ervin of Titusville; two sons, James May of Northfield, Minn., and Tim (Missy) May of Greenville, Pa.; two daughters, Debbie (Dennis) Gearhart of Hadley, Pa., and Rita (Earl) Kagey of Melbourne, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous wife, Delores “Kitty” Rosencrance Wells, and a daughter, Cherie Clapp.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Titusville.
