Harold Richards 1940-2013

CORTLAND – Harold “Lee” Richards, 72, of Cortland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Hospice House in Poland following a brief illness.

Mr. Richards was born on June 16, 1940, in New Martinsville, W.Va., the son of the late Harold and Zeda Resseger Richards.

He was a service man with Packard Electric, retiring in 1999 after 31 years of service.

But above all other jobs, Lee enjoyed golf, his family, reading Westerns and fishing.

Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during peace time. He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS 290.

Lee will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 35 years, the former Louise Clayton, whom he married on Jan. 22, 1977. He is also survived by children Suzanne (Lenny) Santagata of Warren, John (Phyllis) Schuster of Niles, William (MaryBeth) Schuster of Farrell, Pa., Linda Schuster of Cortland, Joanne (Rodney) Stevens of Fowler, Dianne Schuster (Bill Kloboves) of Champion and Lora Lee Richards of Akron; a sister-in-law, Joyce Richards of Warren; two brothers; five sisters; 12 grandchildren and 16 1/2 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Lee was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Richards, and a stepson, David T. Schuster.

Calling hours for friends and family will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, 6923 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield, OH 44403; 330-448-6969. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with Pastor John Talkington officiating.

As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
